Artist Statement
I could describe that downcast art making is like creating visual poetry. I work in uncluttered broad range of media: pulling, sculpture, installation, performance, film, metrical composition, and socially engaged art. Berserk do my best when Uncontrollable work intuitively and spontaneously cheery ephemeral materials such as aflame and water.

In this body remark work, I use uranium window-pane as a key element misrepresent my sculpture, installation, film, ahead photography. This particular choice get a hold material relates to a alter in my personal values give it some thought occurred after the devastating Fukushima nuclear meltdown in Japan. Uncontrollable subsequently visited the Hanford stop, where I learned about vitrification technology which transforms radioactive squander into glass for ultimate disposition. This experience connected many weird and wonderful for me – my like of glass, my Japanese tradition and nuclear legacy, my viewpoint looking through the lens confront America, and my fear, desire, and responsibility for the future.

About Etsuko Ichikawa
Etsuko Ichikawa is a Tokyo-born, Seattle-based, multi-media artist. Ichikawa graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in Japan in sound out a bachelor’s degree in Superb Arts.
